Every Picture Tells A Story
From
yhlee, who got it from
the_red_shoes:Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.

This icon was made from a scan of an artwork
yhlee made for me a few years ago. It is a picture of my fanfic character (and sometime-persona) Daidoji Gisei, in her ghost-gift kimono. The small size really doesn't do the picture justice; you can find a scan at Yoon's website here. I love it because I have no artistic skill whatsoever and I'm fascinated by the idea of someone taking my words and making them into pictures.

OK, so if you've been reading my live journal you probably don't need an explanation for this one, right? I'm not artistic but I can crochet a pretty mean purse. (Memo to self: finish Cherry Blossom Purse in time for next year's Kotei.)

This is one of my attempts to make an icon using LJ's Userpic Factory. I'm not happy with the quality of image, but it's going to stay there until I make/wheedle a better one. The image is from a L5R fan web comic, Shadows of the Clan by Brent Morgan, based on a story of the same title that he and I co-wrote. The comic fascinates me with the decisions Brent had to make to translate the story from pure text to text-and-image. The image for me has the meaning of hidden strength, or the strength we get from others. There's also the amusement value of this being an image of Natsugusa's non-existant hand.

I love the color blue and I love roses so naturally I collect things that involve blue roses. This has become my default icon for sad/depressing entries which is a little unfortunate because that's not actually what blue roses mean for me. On the other hand, it gets the job done so....

This is not a Bleach icon. Orihime is clearly holding a leek and so this is a cooking icon. Ok, so it's also an Orihime icon--but Orihime rocks so there.
And now having completed this exercise I think I now understand how to put images into my lj entries.
