Does writing out of sequence ever work for you? People for whom it does not work are really not helped by it, but for me sometimes it shakes something loose.

I see nothing wrong with taking a Latin-break, at least until after your trip. Be flexible! That's the beautiful thing about writing on spec. And enjoy the trip!
