More fun and games on L5R Story!

The 'Tattooed Nun' thread has evolved into a discussion of Hida Yakamo's sexual preferences. I waver between horrified and deeply amused.

Meanwhile, on the Crane forum someone has brought a post-structuralist philosopher into a discussion of the genders of Crane personalities. http://www.thecraneclan.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3895&sid=0119fcd8d8df0f8a3ca508b658f4dfed . I'm totally amused on this one.

I am so totally amused by the direction the "Tattooed Nuns" thread has taken. We've managed to divert an offensive sexist rant into a discussion about hawt men gettin' it on with each other. VAGINA 4 TEH WIN!!! (I forgot to tell you that that particular phrase that you came up with in the thread damn near made me fall off my chair laughing, and has become my new rallying cry)

But, Yakamo/Uji? SO NOT RIGHT.

... everyone knows it should be Yakamo/Yori!

(now you know what all that mournful staring-off-into-the-Shadowlands Yak did after Yori went Lost was _really_ all about. Not to mention his sudden need to launch frequent "deep penetration Shadowlands missions"....)

Y'know I could so see a Hoturi-hosted MYTesque series based on "the Love Affairs That Dared Not Speak Their Names (In Canon)"... Toturi/Toku! Karasu/Tsume! Naseru/Hantei XVI! Kwanchai/Anyone who Would Stay Still Long Enough ("Fear the Dark Sword of Bitter Lies!")! Sweet kami, thanks to the Yomi and the existence of the honoured dead ancestors (who have to find _something_ to do with all that spare time), the possibilities are endless!

(I dread to think how fast I'd get slapped with an injunction...)

Back on topic *ahem*, I was keeping a weather eye on the D&D thread that Shosei pointed me in the direction of, and came to the conclusion that the majority of the offensive comments were coming from people who were making them for reasons extrinsic to gaming (the guy I found most disturbing casually let slip that he drops a thousand bucks on strippers every few months. Uh huh.) itself. Not much point arguing with people like that on game forums, because I'd need to expand the discussion outside of the realms of the on-topic (depictions of women in L5R art) into a more general discussion of feminism. Also, that thread is starting to get pointed back to the "Tattooed Nuns" thread, in a "Dude, Gisei and Helen explained their objections over here already, check it out" way.

The final reason for not getting involved is that the asshattery just got (accidently) directed at men (someone trotted out the age-old cliche of men being unable to help thinking with their gonads - from "I like strippers and don't see anything wrong with that" guy, btw), so the rational male gamers are suddenly out in force to defend their own sex. Funny, that. :-)

Glad it amused you! I've considered making it my new sig quote--especially in light of the apparent nervousness over the word 'hymen'. (BTW, I've decided to give up denying that I have the Matsu trait.)

I need to drop by the D&D thread; it sound...interesting.

If needed, can I quote you on the Yakamo/Yori theory? ;)

Feel free to use anything that I say, wherever you want. I enjoy seeing the madness spread. :-)

(Hey, Yak/Yori could actually be a tragic love polygon, if you go with Tastes Like Phoenix's version of Moto Tsume's backstory - Yakamo/Yori/Karasu/Tsume!)

>_< I'm not sure why I keep reading that thread, as every other post is something from Helen causing me to need to scrub my brain out. (I did *not* need the image of Yori and Yakamo stuck in my head, thank you very much.) On the plus side, a chlorox wash of the brain does wonders for short-term memory. (Oh yeah, and the "I like strippers" guy embodies everything that is wrong with american pop culture. Bah, I say.)

I suppose Utena probably works with the short-term memory thing, too, so I think I'll go try that... *Wanders off to try and figure out yet another interpretation of the Utena movie* I suppose I have no choice but to revolutionize the world...

(This moment of insanity brought to you by Nanami's egg. Bow before Nanami's egg. Ride the walrus.)

What a fablous slogan!

Someday I want to see the Utena movie...but as per your warning, I'm planning on seeing the series first. (The whole not-having-a-TV thing does get in the way of my anime watching.)
