I meant to write something worthwhile this morning, but became frustrated and side-tracked by the fact something is wonky with yahoo!mail. Started wandering around looking for icon love and came across this, which gave several cool results. I'm really looking for some nice Kenshin icons, but just haven't found any that have clicked. *sigh*

I amuse myself, and sometimes others

This afternoon I decided to clean off the top of our ovens which are, in case you are interested, free-standing gas-fired convection models. I hadn't originally planned to clean this afternoon, as we are out of several of the A-list cookies, but my hand started to hurt when I was scooping the Double Chocolate this morning so I decided that the remaining cookies could wait till tomorrow. Cleaning would be slightly complicated by the fact that the deli was currently using the ovens, but Iron Bakers don't let a little thing like 200 degree F metal get them down.

First I pulled off all the loaf and baguette pans we store on top of the ovens. Then I got one of our clean dust brushes and pans to sweep the top of the ovens off. ('Clean' here means for food-preparation surfaces only, not used on any floor!) This required getting the bakery step-stool so that I could climb high enough to reach all of the oven top. After sweeping I got a clean damp towel and scrubbed the top, being careful not to touch the hot metal with exposed skin.

At the point when I was scrubbing the top of the right-hand oven Alex from the Deli came over to put something into the left-handed oven. "Alex!" I said. "I'm literally slaving over a hot oven!"

I got everyone in the kitchen to laugh with that one.
