Garden Update
Jul. 14th, 2009 09:36 pmI didn't want to do it (it was hot and muggy today), but I did some work in my garden today. It still needs a lot of weeding, but I picked what is probably the last of the snap peas and the broccoli and planted another patch of beans. I had been thinking that I should have gotten my second planting of beans done earlier, but looking at the seed packet I'm thinking it's better I waited, as otherwise they might have hit their peak crop while I was on vacation.
In terms of production, so far my garden has been a stunning success. I haven't needed to buy vegetables from the store since the beginning of June (well, except for potatoes--I'd considered growing potatoes but didn't act early enough) and barring unforeseen disasters (squash borer, clouds of locusts, etc) I will probably go the whole summer eating my own fresh produce. This is very fun. :) ( I ramble like an indeterminate tomato variety. )
