while my supper cooks.

My life is entirely too exciting right now.

Work is madness; we are in the busy season now and I'm still struggling with being shorthanded in the bakery. I'm salary, so I don't have to worry about my overtime affecting my labor budget, but still. And a night baker gave notice the week before Thanksgiving, so I'm in the process of finding a replacement. Arg.

I am layering over this the self-inflicted madness of deciding to GM a RPG game. It will start in January, which gives me some time, but in that time I still have a lot to do. I think overall this is a positive thing: I have decided I need a non-L5R outlet for my creativity, and developing the story and background materials for the game seems to be scratching that itch. It's also more social time, something that will be good for me.

I had been considering buying myself a custom fountain pen from Newton's Pens with my most recent freelance check, but in the last two weeks I've bought a lot of perfume from BPAL and some Pilot Iroshizuku ink samples from Goulet, so that isn't going to happen. I am enjoying the perfume, so I have no complaints. I haven't received the ink samples yet, but I've been entertaining myself with trying to figure out what pens will be used to test them. I am really loving Dante (the black and red frankenpen), but I have just refilled it with DA Black Roses and it is such a pain to clean out. I might de-ink the Lamy 2000, though: a classy pen deserves a classy ink. The black-and-gold Pilot that Yoon gifted me with is another option: Pilot pen + Pilot ink seems like a winning combo.

And finally, it's now December so I can start torturing myself with the belief that I ought to be baking lots and lots of Christmas cookies at home, despite all the hours I am spending at work baking. I may be crazy, but at least I'm predictable.

I'm glad you're enjoying Dante! But yeah, some pens are just a total pain to clean out. My Osmia 34 (burgundy swirls and ruby-red ink window) is gorgeous and writes like a dream, but takes freaking forever to flush out ink traces.

BTW, the Pilot is a Pilot 78G F nib. The lizard has a burgundy one in M, which she uses to draw critters and do math problems (for me; for school she uses a pencil like they tell her to). The Pilots are really nice affordable pens, although I agree with those who say that they tend to be dry writers out of the box (easily remedied by carefully adjusting the tines).
